Email sharonlouise@gmail.com with any question, including anything about a subscription. A person reads every message, usually the same day. If something is going wrong, say which device and which iOS version, and — for an import that failed — the address you were trying.
Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, then Recipe Box, then Cancel. This is Apple’s own screen and we have no way to do it for you. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, or the next one is charged. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Cancel it in the same place, at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You keep the features until the trial runs out.
Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases, with the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still does not come back, email us.
Apple handles all refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue one ourselves, but tell us what went wrong — if it is a bug, we would rather know.
Some sites put the recipe in a video, or in a picture, or serve a different page to anything that is not a person clicking. When that happens: open the page in Safari, select the recipe text, copy it, and use Paste Recipe in the app. It reads pasted text the same way it reads a page. Photographing the screen works too.
Photograph it. Tap the plus, choose Photograph or Scan, then Take a Photo — the camera finds the edges of the card or the page, straightens it and shoots by itself. A recipe written across both sides of a card can go in as two pages in one scan. Everything it reads lands in the editor before it is saved, so a word it misreads is a word you can correct.
Handwriting is harder to read than print, and how much harder depends entirely on the hand. Expect to fix some of it, and treat the photograph as the thing worth keeping — it becomes the recipe’s picture, which for somebody else’s handwriting is rather the point.
Text is read on the device, and it reads a flat, evenly lit page far better than a curved one in shadow. Flatten the book, put the light behind you, and fill the frame with just the recipe. Everything it reads lands in the editor before it is saved, so you can correct it there.
Any PDF with real text in it. A PDF that is just a scanned picture of a page has no text to read — for those, photograph the page with the app’s own camera instead.
In the Ideas tab, and the plus button on the Cookbook tab has a shortcut straight to them. Open one and tap Save to put a copy in your own cookbook, where you can edit it like any other recipe.
It is in Recently Deleted for thirty days. The link to it sits at the foot of the Cookbook tab, and it only appears while there is something in it. Open it and tap Recover. After thirty days it is gone for good.
They will not be. Recipe Box keeps your cookbook on the device you wrote it on and does not sync between devices — the app on a second device starts empty, and there is no setting that changes that. Nothing you write leaves the phone, which is the same fact said from the other side.
What does carry across is your device’s own backup: restoring a new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup brings the cookbook with it, the same as any other app.
Any recipe exports as a PDF page from the recipe screen, free, on every tier — print it, file it, or send it to somebody. A PDF opens on anything, so it is also the way to get a recipe onto another device or to another person.
Yes, per recipe. Convert between metric and US measures, and change the number of servings — the amounts rewrite themselves as fractions you can actually measure. Bear in mind that scaling is arithmetic: it suits a stew better than it suits a cake.
Press and hold the item to move it to another category, and you can make your own categories. The list remembers what you decide.
