These terms govern your use of Recipe Box, published by Sharon Louise Palmer (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app you accept them. They sit alongside Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, which also applies.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. The app is licensed, not sold.
Recipe Box is usable without paying, and every feature can be reached on the free version. What the free version limits is how much you keep: one recipe of your own, one cookbook, five items on the shopping list at a time, and six of the recipes included with the app. Converting a recipe between metric and US measures is part of the subscription. There is no monthly quota on anything — the limits are ceilings, so deleting something frees the place up again. The current limits are shown in the app before you are asked for anything, and a subscription removes them.
What is included in each may change in future versions. Recipes you have already saved remain readable, editable and exportable either way — reaching a limit stops you adding more, it never takes away what is already yours. Exporting any recipe as a PDF is free on every tier.
Purchases are processed by Apple and refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy. Requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com. We are not able to issue refunds ourselves.
Anything you write, photograph or save in the app belongs to you. It is stored on your own device and is not sent to us — see the Privacy Policy. The app does not sync between devices, and deleting the app deletes what is in it. Any recipe can be exported as a PDF page, at any time, on the free version as well as the paid one.
The app can read a recipe from a web page, a photograph or a PDF and turn it into an entry in your own cookbook. That is a convenience for your own kitchen, in the same spirit as copying a recipe into a notebook by hand.
It is not permission to republish someone else’s work. You are responsible for having the right to use the material you bring in — text, photographs and all — and for respecting the terms of any site you import from. Keep imported recipes for your personal use, and do not redistribute them.
Recipe Box ships with a set of recipes written for it. You may cook them, scale them, edit your own copies and print them for yourself. You may not extract the collection or republish it, in whole or in substantial part.
This one matters more than the rest of this page. Recipe Box is a notebook and a calculator, not a cookery teacher and not a source of dietary or medical advice.
Do not use the app unlawfully, and do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, resell, rent or redistribute it, except where that restriction is prohibited by law. Do not use the import feature to circumvent a paywall or an access control on someone else’s site.
We aim to keep the app working and to fix problems, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Importing from a website depends on that website, which may change its pages, block requests or go away entirely; when that happens the recipe can still be added by hand, by photograph or by pasting the text. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn, and support for older operating system versions may end.
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. It is a tool, not a system of record: export anything you cannot afford to lose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or opportunity arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
These terms may be updated. The current version is always on this page with the date at the top, and continuing to use the app means accepting it.
